me recordara a mi misma viniendo

a través de él, como Dios

Padre todo a mi alrededor.

early images of heaven

It amazed me that the shapes of penises,

their sizes, and angles, everything about them

was the way I would have designed them if I had

invented them. The skin, the way the skin

thickens and thins, its suppleness,

the way the head barely ts in the throat,

its mouth almost touching the valve of the stomach ––

and the hair, which lifts, or crinkles, delicate

and free –– I could not get over all this,

the passion for it as intense in me

as if it were made to my order, or my

desire made to its order –– as if I had

known it before I was born, as if

I remembered coming through it, like God

the Father all around me.
