Poesía de la partida

.
A veces oyes, de quinta mano,

como epitafio:

Lo mandó todo a la porra

y se largó,

y siempre la voz está segura

de que darás tu aprobación

a ese gesto audaz,

purificador, elemental.

Y tienen razón, creo.

Todos odiamos nuestro hogar

y tener que estar en él:

yo detesto mi habitación,

su basura tan bien escogida,

buenos libros, una buena cama,

y mi vida, en perfecto orden:

así que cuando oigo decir

Los dejó a todos plantados

me entra un cosquilleo,

un entusiasmo,

igual que con Entonces ella

se desabrochó el vestido,

o Chúpate esa, cabrón;

si él lo hizo, seguro que

yo también puedo.

Y eso me ayuda a estar

sereno y laborioso.

Pero hoy mismo me largaría,

sí, me pavonearía por caminos

llenos de nueces,

me inclinaría en el castillo de proa

con una incipiente barba de bondad,

si eso no fuera tan artificial,

un paso tan deliberado hacia atrás

para crear un objetivo:

libros; porcelana; una vida

reprensiblemente perfecta.

Poetry of departures

Sometimes you hear, fifth-hand,

As epitaph:

He chucked up everything

And just cleared off,

And always the voice will sound

Certain you approve

This audacious, purifying,

Elemental move.

And they are right, I thing.

We all hate home

And having to be there:

I detest my room,

Its specially-chosen junk,

The good books, the good bed,

And my life, in perfect order:

So to hear it said

He waled out on the whole crowd

Leaves me flushed and stirred,

Like Then she undid her dress

Or Take that you bastard;

Surely I can, if he did?

And that helps me stay

Sober and industrious.

But I’d go today,

Yes, swagger the nut-strewn roads,

Crouch in the fo’ c’ sle

Stubbly with goodness, if

It weren’t so artificial,

Such a deliberate step backwards

To create an object:

Books; china; a life

Reprehensibly perfect.
